If you're wondering whether the CD works AND whether it's enjoyable to kids, look no further. A previous student of mine recently submitted a top 5 list for why he likes Silly Ditties for Kiddies. Drum roll, please...

If the goal is to learn while having fun, this former student really believes that Silly Ditties for Kiddies can help.
As I near the end of another year of teaching, I was surprised that some of my students organized themselves with the help of a Paraprofessional to create a secret memory book. They each had a page where they could write a little something about their 3rd grade teacher. I was shocked by how many kids independently of each other wrote about music in the classroom. One student wrote, "You help us in [every] way you can. You also bring music to our classroom. You bring joy to our classroom." I don't sing my songs every day. I don't even sing them every week. And for those of you wondering, I don't even have a good voice (although one student told his mom that I should try out for American Idol...I think he may be tone deaf :) ). So having several kids write about music in the classroom in their final note to me tells me what a huge impact a little bit of music can have on kids. It makes them excited to learn, attaches positive emotions to those new memories, and gives them confidence- even it helps them realize in this stressful society that it's ok to be a little silly from time to time.
Music does make a difference. It's fun. And it can teach.
